Understanding the basic steps makes a difference. When you understand the simple steps behind cleansing, moisturizing and protecting, creating your routine becomes easy-and every product you use works even better.

Care Steps

The basic steps are makeup removal, cleansing, targeted treatments, hydration (both water and lipid based) and sun protection.

A morning routine excludes makeup removal, while an evening routine excludes sun protection.

A common guideline is to apply products from the lightest to the richest texture.

Creation of the Care Routine

Creating your own routine can be challenging, as it depends on the steps you want, your skin type, your concerns and your personal preferences.

A good starting point is to choose a cleanser and moisturiser that suits your skin. And remember-you can always ask us for help finding the right products!

Cleaning the Skin

Cleaning is done with one or two products. In double cleansing, the skin is first washed with an oil-based product (such as balm or cleansing oil) followed by a water-based product.

We highly recommend double cleaning if you wear make-up. If you don't wear any or very light make-up, only one water-based product is sufficient.

Hydration of the skin

The skin needs both hydration (water) and moisture (oil). All skin types benefit from aqueous hydration.

Not all skin types need additional lipid hydration-if your skin is already oily, light hydration is usually sufficient. However, if your skin is dry, you will need more lipid nutrition. It is important not to skip the moisturizer.

Exfoliation of the Skin

The skin naturally sheds dead cells, but sometimes it needs help. The build-up of dead cells can dull the skin and clog pores.

Exfoliating acids are a gentle way to loosen the bonds between dead cells. Regular exfoliation helps to brighten, smooth and cleanse the skin.

The frequency depends on the product and your skin type. Mild exfoliators can often be used daily.
